Canadian Expat SANDRINE DUMOULIN-CHARETTE Offers $100 For Family's Passports Stolen at Phnom Penh Airport

Post by General Mackevili »

She posted this on social media and is offering $100USD to anyone who can return all 3 passports. Seems she values the passports at around $33 each, which hardly makes it worth anyone getting involved with passports of Westerners. I would think $300 minimum to make it worth someone's efforts to retrieve them, or even to make the thief consider returning them....

"Hello all!
Our passport case was stolen at Phnom Penh Airport this morning - what a lovely way to end a vacation! It contained three Canadian passports and a few airline membership cards. We offer a reward of 100$ to anyone who returns our passports.
In the very likely event that we do not find our passports, we'll have to get new passports. Ugh... Does anyone know where to go to get a baby passport photo taken here in Phnom Penh? Our baby is four months old.
Thank you!

It got stolen in the parking lot and our passport case looked like a wallet. The person must have thought it contained cash...

It was in the small basket in the airport trolley. Once we got into the the car, my husband thought I had it and I thought he had it so it was left unattended in the trolley for a couple of minutes. When my husband returned to the trolley it was gone...

Yes we did check and gave our phone number to the staff in case someone returns it. We also checked with the security guards but unfortunately they don't have cameras in the parking lot. I'm pretty sure we'll never find them but wanted to try posting here just in case...

We already contacted the embassy but they're closed on the weekend... Thanks for the reference!"

They upped the reward money to $200. That's a start.

Is it considered normal to travel to a developing country such as Cambodia with a 4-month-old infant?

Well, that's not much better, but is slightly more reasonable.

Anyway, thanks for clearing that up.
