New theatre opens in Siem Reap
The Angkor Grand Theatre, part of a $15-million project known as the Angkor Dynasty Entertainment Center, opened its doors to the public on Wednesday in Siem Reap.
Hailed as the most modern, multi-function theatre in Southeast Asia, the new facility boasts an area of 6,000 square metres capable of accommodating an audience of more than 1,200 people.
Developed by Canadia Integrated Enterprise Group and Ca Heng International, the theatre sits inside the Angkor Dynasty Entertainment Center, a multipurpose space that also features a commercial and entertainment zone, a water park and a food court.
Kheav Se, the chairman of Canadia Group and Ca Heng International, said during the opening ceremony that the theatre will see local artists stage plays that will showcase the cultural richness and historical importance of the kingdom. He added that the project had been possible due to the close collaboration of Cambodian and Chinese public and private institutions.

15m isn't much for a project like that. It sounds more like a typical Khmer/Chinese style construction which will end up being badly designed and built, and then fall into disuse once the Japanese or someone who knows what they're doing build something better that's actually worth visiting.
