17yo, mad on rice wine, attacks old neighbor with machete

PHNOM PENH - ON the afternoon of 29 October, at Prek Thom I Village, Kbal Koh District, Chbar Ampov District, a 17 year old man who had been drinking rice wine with his neighbors, went berserk with a machete and attacked 57 year old Meach Sopha. The two men were arguing, the 17 year old was very drunk and he could not control his anger, so he went to get a machete.
Fortunately, the victim only suffered from a gash on his left forearm, and he was taken to the local clinic to get patched up. The attacker has been taken into police custody at Chbar Ampov District Police.

Obviously completely unjustifiable, but I can see why the way younger people are treated in Cambodia by their elders, the latter expecting total respect and blind subservience simply due to their age, could cause blind rage sometimes. The younger people are often referred to in a derogatory way (Veer), are often chastised in front of the family and have nearly every aspect of their lives ruled. I wonder how long a western seventeen year old could handle that kind of treatment?
