how much for english few hours a week ?

This is our job board for expats. Until ZipRecruiter and Indeed make their way to the Kingdom of Wonder, this is the best place to look for employment in Cambodia, whether you're looking to teach English, manage a 5-star hotel, volunteer, or even work for some of the big NGOs. Even digital nomads who move to Cambodia sometimes need a side gig as a TEFL instructor from time to time. Most professional expatriate jobs are in Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap and Kampot are emerging as attractive alternatives. If you're an employer or hiring manager, you're also welcome to post your job listing here for free.

Post by whereami »

What would it cost for a 10 year old native in phnom penh for parttime english lessons ( he speaks none now) ? By 'parttime' i mean after school or weekends 1-3 times per week ? Minimal , i know , hard to learn this way , i know , but its only option . Its a donation and when i try to explain to schools its like trying to buy a used car in the usa....i cant afford full time tuition donation and am leaving soon so need to figure it out quickly.....any tips or recommendations appreciated ! also , might be ongoing thing (several years) if it works out , progress , ect

I think that at somewhere like BELTEI part time lessons would be about $150 for 3 months. That's 5 lessons a week, in the late afternoon, in a classroom full of noisy kids, high on Sting and Samurai.

It's not going to work the way you have it planned. Kids only go to Khmer school for half days, so the other half day (3 hours) needs to be devoted to English, at least at the beginning, to learn a little vocabulary, but more importantly, the ability to read at least simple English words and sentences. Once the kid can do that, he can move onto part time after-school lessons. When that happens, choosing a place like Beltei is a terrible idea, because discipline is pathetic. Dedicated part time schools like Cam-Asean are a better choice.
