Tourists save Russians from drowning at Nai Thon Beach, Thailand

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Tourists save three Russians from drowning at Nai Thon Beach
14 October 2017
Foreigner beachgoers walking along the sands at Nai Thon Beach today rescued three Russian men who were pulled out from shore by strong waves.

At 11am today, Narenthorn medical staff received a report that three tourists had been saved from drowning at Nai Thon Beach. Sakoo and Kusoldharm rescue workers arrived at the scene to find three Russian men sitting on the beach and said to be “weak and pale”.

Two of the men, Barancheev Leonid and Zubkov Petr were taken to Thalang Hospital while the third man, who has not been named, refused medical assistance.

One Sakoo rescue workers said, “The three Russians were swimming 200 metres away from shore while there was strong wind and waves. They were not wearing life jackets.
“They were taken out by a big wave. And luckily for them foreign beachgoers went out to save them and brought them back shore,” he said...

They were lucky. Another Russian man died yesterday while swimming in dangerous conditions.

Russian Tourist Drowns After Swimming In Red-Flag Area
A Russian man was pronounced dead at the Patong Hospital in Phuket after reportedly going swimming in a red flagged area of the beach before being swept away by strong currents.

The man named as Parshukov Ole, 42, from Russia, drowned at Karon Beach on Sunday afternoon in an area of beach signposted as to dangerous to swim due to large waves and rip currents.

Rescue teams dragged the man’s body from the waters which at the time had waves estimated to be two metres high, attempts were made to resuscitate the man as he was not breathing and CPR was continued while on route to the hospital.
