Changes in ER (retirement) visa ? Proof of retirement required ?
According to posts on social media, the immigration authorities are now asking for proof of retirement from your home country before issuing ER visa extemsions (otherwise known as retirement visas.) This obligation is said to have come into force on 29 September 2017 (last Friday.)
As usual, it is not clear if this applies to everyone all over the country, and whether the application of this requirement will be strictly enforced. It may also turn out to be a rumour. Also unknown is whether or not this applies to both 6 and 12 month visa extensions, and exactly what documents will be needed to satisfy Cambodian immigration.
If anyone has first hand up-to-date information (from 29 September)on obtaining an ER, please share.

ER - You have to be 55 and or have proof of retirement status from your home government.
EB - For a 6 or 12 month EOS (which will be pretty much everyone reading this) you need to supply a letter from your "Employer", but it needs to be a real place as they may contact them. (It may come to bite you in the arse later though when you get another later down the line and they ask about your permit)
However. For a new 6 or 12 month EOS, after your 1 month visa has expired, no letter is needed, until you find work.

For people who aren't working but are (supposedly) looking for work.

Got the retirement for 1 year from Lucky Lucky before the 29th. No letter required but 10 dollars more.

It would be useful if someone could confirm they have an EG visa ext and if anything was needed to show to acquire one! Is this 6 and 12 months? And is it fact that when this expires one has to leave the country but can return and do this process again repeatedly.
Seems the rules changing every week and no official notice in any language for us, even the travel places don't know what's next! .

I have never heard of an EG visa.
If you want to look for work then you need an EB visa.

EG visa. The EG visa is intended for those searching for employment, and can last 1, 3, or 6 months. At the time of writing, the employment requirements are not strictly enforced for the EB visa, so the EG visa is redundant, but if in the future the requirements for the Cambodia EB visa become more strict, the EG visa will be useful for new expats looking for a job.bangkokhooker wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2017 12:53 pm I have never heard of an EG visa.
