Re: Ear Cleaning by Doctor
Just don't let any barber put anything in your ears - good friend is now deaf in one ear thanks to a PP barber. it's just not worth it.
Either go to a proper doctor or a Ucare chemist should sort you out.

Re: Ear Cleaning by Doctor
Apologies for necro'ing the thread, but I just wanted to report a great experience with Dr. Ngann Sophean, and my visit was based on his mention here as found via Google. $30 to examine both ears (and you can watch on TV) and give a prescription, $30 for the follow-up a week later where he actually ended up cleaning one of them out (this was a little scary; ear drops, followed by big pointy metal thing way down deep in the canal, followed by water via syringe.)Sir_Quality_U_Feel wrote: ↑Tue Jul 15, 2014 9:02 amThis sounds like what I am looking for. That being said, I don't trust most people to clean out my ears in whatever style or fashion. Has anyone had a local doctor around Phnom Penh clean their ears out with a scope and whatever other instruments? I want to get a good ear cleaning as I know I am losing some hearing due to blockage. Any suggestions?
Thanks

He uses a scope with monitor so you can watch what he is doing (if you want). Paid $20.
And he has good English, which gets better when you can hear out of both ears! Which I can now!
2PM seems like a good time to go if you are.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.

Re: Ear Cleaning by Doctor
Well went got my ears cleaned, after my last experience in Siem reap with the metal tool digging away and getting the shits with the pain then walking out with my hearing still intact, I followed advice from here
Very busy had to wait an hour but got the examination seen both internal ears on tv then the cleaning, not the metal thing or the syringe water treatment it was more of a vacuum, I little uncomfortable but I least I wasn't thinking I was going to be walking out deaf for life, would recommend these guys, I will be going back for sure next time my ears need a clean.
Cost $70 but small money when some cunts not digging in your ear with a metal prog for $10
Some how I got a $10 discount

Re: Ear Cleaning by Doctor
The old golden rule - never put anything inside your ear smaller than your elbow.
lol, the best bad blockage i had unplugged was during one terrified hour on a small wooden boat in the middle of the Tonle Sap when a storm blew up one afternoon.
The moisture, the frantic bailing, the severe banging and thumping as the waves crashed into the boat.
The pressure inside my head especially. (probably)
Pop Pop.
I had been about 75% deaf for the past month or so. Bad wax combined with inner-ear infection from the bad water.
Next morning i realised i could hear perfectly again.
I can still hear that Pop Pop in all the turmoil.

Re: Ear Cleaning by Doctor
Why do you not go and see the ear professionals/specialists in Phnom Penh?
All Ears Cambodia - For Appointments etc SIN Chan Seyha HP 012 624 530
House 7C, Street 240
Khan Daun Penh
Director: Glyn Vaughn - a London trained Audiologist
Please see:

Personally, when referring patients with advanced ear problems to them they have proved to be very professional indeed.
All Ears Cambodia also has an Ear Clinic in Seam Reap.

Re: Ear Cleaning by Doctor
Can recommend them from personal experience, but they're not cheap. A simple audio test (10 minutes) to differ middle ear infection from inner ear infection costs 40 USD (Khmer 20). They also wouldn't be my first stop for ear wax removal. They're more the place to go to image / analyze your current hearing (problem), something to present to an ENT specialist, not an audiologist.Ot Mean Loi wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 3:02 pm Why do you not go and see the ear professionals/specialists in Phnom Penh?

Re: Ear Cleaning by Doctor
There are basically 2 ways to clear the ears one is with syringe and a liquid rinse in the ears most even simple clinics can do that and the second option is with the small vacuum cleaner that does a better and more safe job but only more specialized places can do that. I had that done in Pattaya Memorial hospital for i think 1800 bht.

I’ve found that spraying oil in gently for a few days to soften the wax, followed by spraying in warm water with a specific multi-jet ear syringe works well. For more extreme cases the vacuum method is good.
