The bus, which belonged to BPA Transport, was travelling from Poipet to Phnom Penh, when forestry officials in Kampong Chhnang’s Thpong district stopped it and found the large haul of live animals. The driver, Choem Seth, was taken in and questioned by Forestry Administration officials, said Hang Socheat, an official with the provincial Military Police.

“After the arrest of the suspect, we found evidence including a bus, 10 turtles, three civets and [many] snakes, and it was 150 kilograms in total. All of the evidence was sent to Kampong Tralach Forestry Administration to take further action,” he said...

Still not very clear. The photos are centred on the heroic forest guards, not the animal.

Does someone know how it is possible that "Military Police" stopped this particular bus and found these animals? Mostly they are too lazy to get off there ass to do anything besides look at their mobile phones underneath a shady tree unless there is money coming their way. Some one didn't fill the tea box properly?

Alternative Title: Bos sauveli
Kouprey (Bos sauveli), elusive wild ox (tribe Bovini, family Bovidae) of Indochina and one of the world’s most endangered large mammals, if it is not already extinct.
https://www.britannica.com/animal/kouprey#ref46913

Date last seen: last absolute confirmed date is 1969/70

So it's probably not a kouprey. Could it be a gaur ?

http://www.arkive.org/kouprey/bos-sauveli/ says it was last seen in 1988.

Could also be Banteng or Gaur.
