Is Feng shui an utter load of crap?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I think we can all agree on its beauty, but is it worth dying for?
Apparently so.

Eight stabbed to death in row after man accuses neighbours of ruining his home's feng shui.

Row broke out when Li Hsing's neighbour put a mirror outside his home
Li accused the neighbour of sending him bad luck and told him to remove it
When the neighbour refused Li got a knife and killed him and seven others

For example no one places the entrance facing west in our village since they believe that dead spirits will enter from that direction after dark.
Is that shin phooie or does it have internal cultural influence?
I think CEO news posted a good description of what it is to a lot of western folk. I would imagine it would take a few years of dedicated study to unpick the mix of anamism, religion and Feng shui in Cambodian culture.
