Could Thailand really legalise it’s sex industry?
Interesting opinion piece on Thailand's sex business :
Could Thailand really legalise it’s sex industry?
Last month’s recommendations by a UN body promoting gender equality to Thailand to stop prosecutions of female sex workers and violent raids of entertainment venues have got me thinking further about the issue.
While the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women, or CEDAW, was bold in making such suggestions in its 14-page report released on July 24 from Geneva, in realities such suggestions are much much easier said than done...

I dont think the government will do that. Thai culture is still conservative and doesn't really accept the fact that they have this kind of business in their country. I know it's quite a hypocrisy but people will prefer keeping it illegal eventhough they can't really handle the black market.

Prostitution is well accepted an not looked down upon ( as LONG as $$$ is sent back home) and every mother in issan has dreams her daughter will head off to Pattaya and send home enough $$ so they can build a house and dad can get drunk everyday.
OR with luck, land a Farang stupid enough to pay for everything
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
