Attempts to censor internet in Thailand continue.
Internet censorship battles continue in Thailand, as Facebook appears to be at least partially resisting the demand to shut down 2,500 URLs that have displeased the government.
Thais tell Facebook: “This is Thailand – you’re not doing enough to block illegal content”
The Thai national broadcasting authority has told Facebook they are not doing enough to block content deemed illegal in the kingdom.
Out of more than 2,500 URLs the Thais asked to be taken down in May Facebook has only shut access to 40%.
Now they are giving Facebook a Monday deadline to clear up many of the outstanding URLs before considering their next move, Daily News reported.
However YouTube are doing a good job, said secretary of the NTBC Thakorn Tanthasit.
Back at the start of May a court in Thailand decided that 2,556 URLs on Facebook should be closed. Only 1,039 have been.
YouTube were asked to shut 980, and have shut 779 or 79%.
Eighty four other URLs saw sixteen closed, or just 19%.
Thakorn said: “If they are coming into Thailand they have to obey our laws. Facebook are not doing enough to block illegal content”.

The pinhead Thai's would have better luck pissing up a rope.

Thailand will be the Venezuela of Southeast Asia in a couple months.
Look for the arrival of large numbers of Thai refugees flooding into Cambodia and Laos.

No country that supports Murika will ever have their economy destroyed by the US.

I don't think Chavez and Maduro needed that much help from the US for that result.

As soon as Chavez dared to suggest that the citizens of Venezuela should be the first to benefit from the country's resources (the horror! Unspeakable!) he was marked.
If a small country could do it...
He had to be stopped, and they had to pay for daring to think of such sacrilege.

And LeFeber...
The IMF and World Bank sit gleefully by, rubbing their sweaty hands, anticipating the unrepeatable loans (complete with preconditions that include privatisation of water and electricity - something that has been proved to be counter-productive , a central bank, owned by you know who) and servitude forthcoming.
But yes, you're probably right, nasty little Venezuelans imagining their own country should benefit.
What a ridiculous idea!

Venezuela was just meant as an example of results.
But yes, the causes are somewhat different.
Anyway, the authorities in Thailand are desperate for control, including the internet, and the citizens are getting fed up.
There's gonna be a showdown...

Re: Attempts to censor internet in Thailand continue.
already begun, current king is amending the privy council, (appointing more military figures, slashing the numbers ( from 16 to 11) and upsetting the Bangkok elite ), still feeling he is some kind of god, Current gen is upset and feels he is losing control and backing, few thais are happy with new constitution, Thaksin is giving speeches, elections slated ( not confirmed) for sometime in 2018 and people continue to be murdered, ( yet unreported in english news) down south;
it will hit the fan after Oct 26th.
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
Re: Attempts to censor internet in Thailand continue.
More complaints from younger Thais have certainly been surfacing on social media, based on English-language news reports. They seem to be less and less afraid to air their grievances. A young popular singer issued some complaints recently on Twitter, I believe, and she got quite a bit of support as well as critics. When young Thai entrepreneurs who are brewing good beer in hidden little sub-sois have to send their product out of the country and bring it back in in order to sell it at inflated prices (by tariffs), it's no wonder they're getting tired of the extreme control of business by the elites.
Anyway, I'm just tying things up in Thailand, and will be gone before the Yingluk ruling this month and funeral ceremonies end of October.
