I don't think foreign human rights lawyers can expect to have much sway with judges here. They are definitely not flavor of the month.

Not sure - the statement in the ppp post was strange. I can only guess that it is background checks. They are certainly not involved in the investigation.

^^ I would have thought to clear up any past form to help the case. I don't see many schools here doing checks beforehand.

Somebody told me last night that Mark Smith was quietly released from prison some days back and has left the country with his family.

I thought that it was strange that there would be no news of such an occurrence, and checking his Facebook I see no new activity.

Makes you wonder how many westerners are long gone after being sentenced.
