I am traveling for the next 2 days. But send me your basic qualifications and general background info via PM

---A bit more about the hotel---
- 13 rooms, average occupancy around 70%. Operating for just under a year
- Occupancy averaged 85.72% from August-March (last year) - September being slow.
- Location is stellar - 4-5 mins walk from pub street
- Room rate: $10-20 (depending on room type) - No breakfast included in the price. (People who buy breakfast as part of the rate, go to the restaurant/bar area, as that's where we serve breakfast)
- General demographics of hotel guests - 25-35 yr olds.

---And to the skeptics---
Running a bar is a tough job; infact a full time job. And moreover, it's not for everybody. Also, I don't like late nights, and much rather give it to somebody who specialises in this. No Scam here , no nothing - just trying to add more specialised talent:).

Plus, I wanna try and attract the local expat community, and that will take even greater efforts. I simply don't have that kind of time (i have a lot going on for the next year or so).
Questions;

Would devoted manager get a piece of the hotel or just the bar?

Can the manager bring in his/her own bottle of hooch and sell that off, thereby keeping the count square, but collecting a greater percentage?

Can the manage park his/her own drug dealer in the corner and make them pay rent, kicking out all of the other drug dealers?

Can the manager run his/her own girls, discreetly, out of the bar?

Do you have any spies in the crowd to watch the manager short pour or serve a floater? :stir:

We can talk about this. If you have a background in running semi-successful businesses, we can talk

I presume you are joking. I was asking for serious advice/consideration. For semi-sarcastic/funny humour, Reddit is your friend :)

I don't know. Even if I did, you think we'll talk about this in an open forum?

AndyKK wrote: Sat Jul 29, 2017 9:22 am OK all looks good! So the manager drums up more trade, but now is unable to cope on his/her own. So what about hiring more bar staff, who would hire and fund this?
Here's the deal. YOU will the boss. You hire/fire bar staff as you like. I don't really care. All I care about is my monthly cut. So you have total control over hiring. So if you wanna hire a 21 yr old Russian backpacker or a 58 old Brazil retiree - it's your call. I just care about the end result. If the bar needs investment, and it makes sense. I'll make sure you get it.

One more clarification

I AM NOT LOOKING FOR AN EMPLOYEE. I AM LOOKING FOR A PARTNER , WHO KNOWS HOW TO RUN A BAR

I need a girl/guy who can run a bar and run it well. YOU WILL BE THE BOSS. You can hire/fire more bar staff as you will. At the end of the month, we subtract the expenses (stock/salaries/etc) from the income and divide the profits. You have NO RENT to pay, no money upfront. Only thing you need is to make sure that people come to the bar.

OR

And I just thought of this today - if you wanna pay me, a fixed amount a month - we can talk

I AM JUST LOOKING FOR A BAR THAT WORKS. We have a gorgeous bar (beautiful bar, mural, location everything) and it can work. It just needs somebody who can run a bar)

Ask away

AND TO THE CYNICS
I know Asia is full of all sorts of magical scams. This is not it. So, please be respectful and stop insulting the idea because there's no scam here. So stop saying "if it's too good to be true" nonsense" . Running a bar is hard work. Anybody who says otherwise, has no idea how bars work. As glamorous and fun as it looks, running a bar is a full time job and is highly time consuming. It requires ATLEAST a 100% commitment. And I don't have the time for it. Hence, I am looking to partner with some people who know more than I do (in this field). Relax.

Sometimes, good decent opportunities DO exist.

Only thing you need is to make sure that people come to the bar.
and if u can figure out HOW, ur way ahead of the game :beer3:

For a few years i ran the most successful after hours disco in Phuket, U NEED original ideas to make it work.
for sure its not just about drinking with ur new friends...

Hope before u partner up with anyone u get them to write up a business plan

Hundreds, if not thousands of people here with lots of bar experience. It's just a pity is all been on the wrong side of the bar.

I tend to ask the hard questions up front. Since you have a family history in this business that spans generations, seeing how you react to difficulty is important to know.

In general, I don't think the naysayers are being disrespectful, it's more likely that they are skeptical of this kind of offer. Cynicism is a semi-decent personality trait, at least in these times anyway.

As an experienced bartender (NYC and SF) I can say your offer seems a bit too good to be true, but, to your credit, you have been consistent and persistent in reaching your goals. If you were in PP and I didn't have a full plate with my own dreams, I might explore this further.

I like Reddit, too, especially the AMA's.

Good luck in your venture!

I've worked in a pub, have experience managing people and know about the plights of business... I'd trial it @ 50% with no negative fiduciary impacts to myself, oh and bed and board in one of the swanky rooms your hotel has? Another plus is that I'm not a massive piss head and I'm starting my own brewery à la the fake beer thread.

I can make a nice spreadsheet as well and do the odd bit of marketing.
Slow down little world, you're changing too fast.
