Urban Planner Molyvann Sees City on Verge of Collapse

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I watch animated movies.

I'd mention having studied animation with a Disney instructor, but a certain poster would get frothy-mouthed about his skepticism of my CV and life experience, and we'd end up arguing.

So, I watch animated movies.

Dragging this right off topic, which normally winds me up, but anyway...

What is it with animated series/movies that they need to make such stupid looking characters with fucked up anatomy and features? Is there some kind of annual award for the most bizarre character or is it an in-joke among animators or what?

Seriously, it's about marketability. If it's too non-generic, it becomes regionalised, and unless that's what the animation house is after (think Pocahontas or Aladdin, or where they want the character to resemble the famous voice talent) they want it to speak to as many cultures as possible, just by changing the voicing.

I'm a fan of Van the Man. It is a crying shame his contributions to the city have been neglected and his legacy vandalized.
It was his hat Mr Krabs. He was number one.

It's Penfold

And sorry to go against expat doctrine and the holy scriptures of the Cambodia Daily, but I think his "modern Khmer architecture" looks shite and the Independence Monument which didn't use that style was the only awe inspiring structure he designed.

In my next installment of "Expat Sacrilege Weekly" I'll explain why Mu Sochua would be a useless PM and that Kong Nai has less musical talent than the Cheeky Girls.
