biting the bullet...
I recently made a visa run to PP and in the process had to deal with the Thai immigration in Poipet. In consideration of the fact that they gave me a hard time LEAVING Thailand, and the many years of jumping through the ever changing hoops needed to remain in the country, I say; FUCH YOU THAILAND!
While in PP I met some nice blokes and had a good time, and I looked for possible apartments. I did find a new building with rents of 150usd for a one-bedroom on Monivong near st.271. It's an option.
When I got back to Thailand I started to reread Vlad's piece on renting an apartment, (Nice work Vlad) and doing some research on areas prone to flooding.
I found this map, which, in my opinion, is a decent resource. https://urbanvoicecambodia.net/maps/ (sticky?)
Maps are great but actual experience from city residents are even better!
So, I am looking for an apartment/flat. The areas I have considered are BKK2/BKK3, near the Independence Monument, Monivong by 271, and the intersection of Monivong and Russian Blvd. I did have someone tell me that 180 st. and 200 st are nice and quiet.
The main concerns for me are fast, stable internet, stable electricity, floods, crime, cheap rents.
Does anyone have any insight on these areas, for or against? are they prone to floods? Are there electrical blackouts? Most importantly, how stable is the internet?
