Thinking of working in THailand

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

First two on the left on that first pic

Last pic the white chick is touching herself? :beer3: think I'd be disappointed to get a white girl server in Asia.

Last Hooters I went to was in Osaka couple years back, couple little hotties in there (I'd put apic but my Photobucket is jacked). When in Medellin last month I walked by the Hooters but the chicks looked so disinterested I kept walking, shame I met couple cool girls there some years ago.

Now then...is it true a person/farang would need a university to work in Thailand?
Yes, "farangs" are a separate category from "persons" in Thailand, so your line of thinking is correct.

Anyway, I assume you mean to "legally work in Thailand" and "have a university degree".

For teaching with a work permit, I am pretty sure you need at least a bachelor's degree in something. For other jobs, I think it depends on the employer.

The main thing you need is an employer who can sponsor your application for permission to work in a position other than those on the list. That's why so many are teachers.

I'm sure that some people must be doing some other type of work.

I worked in Thailand legitimately in charge of Finance, IT and Purchasing for a large company in the PetroChemical industry. We had between 15-20 other expats working in positions that ranged from Field Supervisors to Managers and HOD's. Salaries ranged from 150k baht a month up to 350k baht a month and with the company doing well annual bonuses were 2-3 months salary performance based. Our major clients also had expats working for them, as did many of the companies supplying us with goods or services. I was sat in a Bar in Pattaya one night having banked another large pay check while a loud mouthed semi literate Cockney was giving everyone the benefit of his in-depth knowledge of Thai industry and " They don't want us working here " rant, I chuckled to myself and ordered another beer.

Anybody know of someone who has a work permit in Thailand but isn't a teacher.

Starting your own business is a totally different process. No degree required but loads of expendable finances is a necessity.

I know lots; Chefs, working in hotels, Accounting, I had a few managing a disco, Construction foreman. Business manager. Even my Cambodian had a full farang wp employed as a marketing manager...etc etc mostly u just need a business to hire you and provide all the papers to apply first for a Non B visa ,than for the wp/
Farangs DO NOT need a college degree ( work experience is good) except for some teachers. Unlike Cambodia there are few ONLY English teachers for small kids. 90% work for a full school(ie not one that just teaches english)
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Don't bother working in Thailand, according to a very reliable source here you'll only get paid $800 a year, if at all.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
