Looking for recommendations for a decent budget family hotel in SHV.

Every time we go to visit my wife's family down there we always have stayed at Aqua which I guess is sold now.

I am recommending:

Reef Resort or

Beach Club. At beach club mention that John from the Aqua referred you and you may get a discount.

I have my daughter currently staying at Reef.

BTW, for the record, the Aqua has not been sold but has been subleased until the end of the head lease, mind you it is pretty much the same thing.

Interesting,I was wondering why it wasn't appearing on my booking.com searches anymore

Never stayed there, always put off by the reviews mentioning loud music from the bar complex next door

stayed there once or twice when it was owned by Bob but that noise next door made me find elsewhere
