What books are you reading?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I've just finished reading the last Game of Thrones book.

The five books were a marathon!

Well, this thread hasn't seen a lot of action so far. I was searching for a "what are you reading thread? " because I've just finished reading "The Power of the Dog" and "The Cartel" by Dan Winslow and I very much enjoyed them both - drug wars in Mexico.
It's fiction, but when you check out news on the Mexican drug cartels IRL, there are a lot characters who resemble the Mexican cartel bosses and members. The books are violent, but the truth is brutal too. Violence, torture and beheadings feature largely in both books - some fiction, mixed with a lot of reality.

I had some time to kill, so needed some books that take you away on a long trip. Recommend.

Re-reading this classic, by economist Amartya Sen, in the context of COVID and how it has affected development and freedom:

That and awaiting the next Houellebecq, which everybody in the game is nervous about in France, because of his wit and his spot-on social analysis, every single book.
It's due for January 2, so, soon.
