Today:Dutch guy denied entry for too many tourist visas.
Today on Thai visa, the guy is posting from the deportation centre at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Wants to know if he should appeal or not. He has a tourist visa, money and a return ticket to Europe.
Section 12 (3) motive for refusal is apparently suspicion that the person is working/seeking work. How can you prove that you have no intention of working in Thailand ? And what can you do if you are refused entry as in this case ?

Hey, when you've got 30+ million 'tourists' per year you can afford to be picky.
Looks like the Thai authorities want to make an example of this guy to demonstrate that Thailand is really serious about law and order and cracking down on working illegally. The problem is that this guy's story holds up pretty well. Of course, logic doesn't apply in LOS, maybe he said or did something that was misconstrued.
His desire to appeal indicates a potential mental or psychological defect. My advice: Go to Laos.

Re: Today:Dutch guy denied entry for too many tourist visas.
his story;
Dutch passport 39 years old.
all i can say is something set bells ringing for immigration.
Dutch passport 39 years old.
I first arrived with a METV issued in my country after that I stayed in the Philippines for more than a month. Returned to Bangkok on exempt stamp because there was no embassy around me in the Philippines.
After that I stayed in 3 other countries always for around 1 week and got 4 Thai SETV. Between the SETV I went once to Cambodia per land and another time to Myanmar per land.
Never overstayed.
I don't have any criminal background, never had any problem with police.
I didn't sign any paper in the detention room because I'm still looking for options how to solve the problem.

I'd say the problem is that "around 1 week" is too short. After that I stayed in 3 other countries always for around 1 week and got 4 Thai SETV
I have a friend who does a similar thing, living off savings, based in Bongcock, on TVs for nearly 2 years (not sure if ME or SE, I think SE). Anyway, when he goes out, he's gone for nearly two months, usually Laos and Viet Nam, sometimes Cambochea, sometimes elsewhere. Anyway, he hasn't had a problem, SO FAR.
So, if someone is going to do this sort of thing, this should definitely be part of their strategy.

As I have stated many times, savvy (which means "smart" by the way) expats saw the writing on the wall years ago and have made other plans. Since the mot recent coup there have been numerous warning signs that the government is not interested in long-term farangs who are not bringing in the BIG buckSSSSSSSSS.
Hopefully, people will see these cases and realize that they could very well be the next guy sitting in the IDC crying on social media.
Get the memo already
What would be funny now is if the Immigration Dept sued these guys for defamation or charged them with violating the Computer Control Act, or whatever its called, for posting their woes on the internet.

Re: Today:Dutch guy denied entry for too many tourist visas.
i'd like to know how many savvy expats have left? none that i know of, ( unless they died) that either are retired, married or have good jobs or business are even thinking of departing (for where?)
PLUS there are many more moving in
international schools here, ( phuket), are full, so that says something as well
Both these guys were trying to live in Thailand on tourists visas or visa exempt entries.
Wait till after oct 26th for changes to really develop
new announcements about an expensive 10 year visa, ( yea thats a joke) an making Thailand a medical hub ( a great idea) have recently been brought up in the news

For those who are not married nor attached to a Thai girlfriend, the Philippines is becoming an increasingly good option, especially places like Cebu, Bohol, or Palawan.
I can see a migration happening. The lack in the Philippines is the nightlife, those expats who cling to barstools won't really have that option in the Philippines. There is some nightlife in Cebu or Angeles (with Angeles being more popular with formerly expats of Thailand), but everywhere else is fairly well just sit around and watch live music and drink at a table.
Tourism is not full on like Thailand or Cambodia. It's just the Philippines.
I rather like it though, lovely people, not a lot of hassles, and cheap beer.
