i went thru first in 1975, and went back a few times to buy carpets 76-78 ( there an Afghanistan)
I would buy new carpets and then the shop would put them out in the streets, i'd return 6 months later and bring them home and sell as "Old, used" carpets :beer3:

Ah yes, i remember wandering around Kabul and walking over new carpets that were laid outside carpet shops, at first we would walk round them!
