Punish corruption, not migrant workers

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Punish corruption, not migrant workers

Post by phuketrichard »

a good analysis of the situation.

Thailand NEEDS to admit they need migrant workers for the simple fact is, Thai workers will not work for low pay (or even the minimum wage of 300 baht/day) or out in the sun or on boats.

To make it effective the costs to hire a migrant worker must be lower and it must be made easier for the migrants wishing to work in thailand to obtain all the correct paperwork :beer3:
Effective June 23, the harsh punishment triggered panic among migrant workers and their employers, leading to mass layoffs and an exodus of workers across the borders back to Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia.

Now it's the government's turn to panic. Hence the promise from Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to evoke Section 44 which gives him absolute power as a military leader to suspend the decree for 180 days.

in regards to making easier for Cambodians to be legal, Cambodia MUST lower the price for a passport
The Interior Ministry on Tuesday released a statement clarifying prices – $100 for a passport within 20 days, $150 within 10 days and $200 for a same-day passport.
WHY?? a thai passport ,cost 1,015 baht ($30) , takes less than a week and they will mail it to you.
