Shia reaction is expected after Saudi Arabia executed a prominent Shia cleric and 46 others yesterday. I think the authorities idea was to stamp out civil dissent, but looks like they've just chucked a bit more oil on the fire.
Some are already predicting the beginning of the end for the Saudi royal family. Maybe not quite yet, but in the meantime, the execution rate is ramping up. The number of people executed yesterday is more than half of the total executions held last year.

The 47 were convicted of adopting takfiri ideology, joining “terrorist organisations” and implementing various “criminal plots”, the Saudi statement said.
They were executed in 12 different cities but the official SPA news agency gave no details on the method used, though it is normally beheading with a sword.
