Requirements for Opening a Banking Account in Cambodia for Expats?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

If so, does anyone know the conditions of opening an account here?

When I was last in the UK over two years ago the HSBC required £75,000 balance, and only money transfers above that amount were feasible because of their interest rate. I used the Halifax due to only £9 transfer fee on any amount.

It's a shame they don't have a branch here... nearest is in Saigon.

For Citi AU the Android app is terrible. The One Time PIN (OTP) you need to do virtually anything is absolutely useless. I used it once or twice with my Smart phone number then I would never receive the OTP SMSs, they insisted it must be a problem with Smart, so I got a second SIM from Metfone, and again it worked once then never again. So if I need to do anything I need to call them and speak to someone in the Philippines.

But for not having to pay fees for international transactions, yes they are good in that regard. I just wish they would open an office here.

Thanks for that info. Can I ask whether you can transfer funds from one Citibank account say in Vietnam, and just transfer to another Citibank account, say in the UK, via Inet banking? If so, is the transfer instant, or would it take a few days?
