Don't bother with the spiders, they taste grim. The ichor in the abdomen is particularly unpleasant in texture and taste. Anything with spindly legs just gets them stuck in your teeth. My wife loves crickets but they always give her the shits. I prefer peanuts or crisps as a bar snack. Fried ants are ok, not a fan of larvae sprinkles on my salad, though

I wonder if the problem is not with the old truck engine oil or whatever they use to fry them. When I bought them off a street vendor, they also gave me the trots. When my then Chef made them for me, I had no problem. They also tasted a lot better, the problem with insects sold on the street is the often rancid smell coming off them.

i eat crickets a lot, here and in Thailand, i never notice them giving me the shits tbh
especially nice if you get them prepared with chillies and onions etc..

I like them too Jamie. Better then peanuts with a cold beer. But I agree with hanno the oil must be clean.
Always "hope" but never "expect".
