PPP Police Blotter thread

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. After spat, woman calls cops on boyfriend, friend
26 June 2017
PHNOM PENH. A capital girl cried wolf – “thief”, actually – but ended up at the police station along with her boyfriend and his friend on Saturday in Phsar Thmey III commune.
After getting in a row with her beau next to their parked motorbike, the boy and his buddy started walking away.

The girlfriend screamed that she had been robbed and a mob assembled to apprehend the young men.

Police were called and all three were brought to the station, but released when the truth became clear.
Cops held onto the scooter until they could bring documents proving they owned it.

For ambulances as for doctors: first do no harm
Mon, 31 July 2017
Rather than mitigating injuries, an ambulance ride actually led to more when the vehicle ran into a truck in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district on the way back to the hospital.

The ambulance driver and five others were injured when they crashed into the lorry, whose operator fled the scene.

Cops came and called in more vehicles to ferry the now six injured to the hospital, and the two wrecks were impounded to headquarters for processing.

Drinking soldiers, police nearly come to blows
23 August 2017
Brothers in arms apparently didn’t think too highly of each other in Takeo province on Monday when a group of soldiers nearly came to blows with a group of police officers.

Both factions were drinking at a beer garden when something sparked a shouting match, causing anxiety among the other patrons.

A third clique of on-duty, sober officers showed up and brought everyone down to headquarters to chill and sign a contract promising not to attack their allies again.

Witnesses were left hoping the country’s servicemen could channel their energy into patriotic duty instead of onto their comrades in the future.

A likely tale...

Kandal police conclude motodop was a lying liar
14 September 2017
A motodop was picked up for drug possession in Kandal’s Takhmao town after giving police a less-than-airtight alibi on Tuesday.

According to the man’s account, he was driving home when he came across a group of gangsters brawling in the street.

Spotting a small packet of drugs on the ground, the motodop – for unknown reasons – decided to put it in his pocket and continue on his way.

Cops pulled him over, and after uncovering the illicit substance, were unswayed by his serendipitous tale. The man was hauled downtown and is now facing charges.

^^ Maybe the gangster that dropped the small packet of drugs tipped off the police. :)
