Re: Durian
Visit to a durian farm in Kampong Cham province. Not sure if this is the right kind of durian for the OP, but at least they're fresh.

Talking to the wife....yes she's heard of Montong and understands it to be good but says she doesn't know if she's eaten it as it's 'expensive and I don't know where to buy...".

in Cambodia the Durians are usually either Mon Thong or Chanee also

Re: Durian
Mon Thong is a named Thai variety. They do no have named varieties here- all are seedlings, no grafted trees thus no named cultivars.
I used to grow this var along with D7 and D10 from Malaysia in North Queensland.

Re: Durian
A Cambodian on our Facebook page gave us a quick guide to purchasing a lovely durian..Sara wrote:For Durian lovers, Any suggestion of reputable Durian seller here in PP?
"Hi everyone, I guess I can suggest a more surer way to recognize durian rather than focusing on the shop location. That would be" the smaller size durian is less exposed to fertilizer and and chemicals than the larger ones during fruiting process" Durain from Kom Pot Provincial area is the local top pick". Also, the stronger the aroma of natural durian must be present in order to select the natural ripping process as a pose to chemical sprayed durian that has little aroma to none at all. Good luck and enjoy the most yummy durian in our country."
Hope that helps.

Re: Durian
Cool. That helps a lot. Stinky is good. If your durian doesn't smell like a good ripe French cheese left out in the sun, then it's a dud.General Mackevili wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2017 8:17 pmA Cambodian on our Facebook page gave us a quick guide to purchasing a lovely durian..Sara wrote:For Durian lovers, Any suggestion of reputable Durian seller here in PP?

Re: Durian
it all depends on the specie though as some durians naturally have less odours than others and vary in sizeAnchor Moy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2017 8:37 pmCool. That helps a lot. Stinky is good. I'm guessing this gem of information came from Kampot?
