Sport or Game
Sport or Game
What is the difference between a sport and a game?
A sport is a physical activity carried out under an agreed set of rules, with a recreational purpose: for competition or self-enjoyment or a combination of these. A game is a recreational activity involving one or more players, defined by a goal that the players try to reach, and some set of rules to play it.
Who would agree or disagree with the above.
They Call them the ''Olympic Games.
Is boxing a sport. A phrase often heard is,''he is in the boxing game.
Is the Iron Man Contest a sport or game.
Or is it all just so much symantic BS?

a Sport is a physical activity and skill done competitively under certain sets of rules etc, football is a sport, but so is shooting
a game is competition between people or athletes under certain sets of rules, whether it be a board/card game or a game of football
i underlined that last one as its an example, football is the sport, and the game is the 'competition' of that said sport,
the reason why its called the "olympic games" is because its a game for countries to compete and collect the most medals by partaking in a variety of different sports
and to clarify the boxing that you brought up to
Boxing is a sport, the boxing game is to go up in the ranks and to become the number 1 contender to be the world champion, thats the game, whilst boxing itself is just a sport
football is a sport, the game is to win the league or domestic/european/world cup
etc etc
a game doesnt have to be about sport, card games, video games, board games etc
sports have to be about certain physical activities and skills, football, boxing, shooting, car/bike racing, cue sports (snooker/pool) etc
hope that clears that up for you
[edit] the iron man contest is a game, bodybuilding is the sport
