- A military police officer and four cassava workers were arrested on Friday in Pailin province while smoking crystal meth inside a car bearing a military licence plate.

Hor Vireak, deputy chief of the Anti-Drug Police Unit in Pailin province, yesterday identified the suspects as Hou Kimsan, 36, a military police officer based in Pailin; En Bros, 28; San Vichetr, 26; Yorn Pheap, 29; and Keo Buntha, 32.

Mr Vireak said the provincial court yesterday charged all five suspects with “drug use and possession”.
“They were a target of ours,” said Mr Vireak, noting the car was registered to Mr Kimsan, the military police officer. “Before their arrests, they sold drugs many times to other drug users in the province.”

Mr Vireak said the group was arrested in a quiet area in O-Chheu Krom village, Stung Kach commune, and that authorities confiscated two small packages of crystal methamphetamine, a can of gunpowder, the car, and drug paraphernalia.
