This is definetly not a contradiction of your assesment but if you would please explain exactly how they are ruining it for you. Just to many of them? Do they bother you when you are out & about? Casinos that are hideous & empty? Whut?
Re: Low standard in the girly bars at the minute
As everyone knows I am in Cambodia for the culture, not the girls, however your friend is right, SHV has changed very quickly and dramatically and IMHO not for the better.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2017 9:52 am just got a skype call form My friend living in SHV (and has been for 7 years) says the place has been brought and taken over by the Chinese.New hotels going up everywhere

Just heard from a friend that he is moving to Kampot, he is sharing a moving truck with 2 others.
I just applied for my Thai Retirement Visa as I will be spending way less time in SHV in the future and more in PP and Thailand, since I have leased my business to the Chinese.

Ronnie is lucky as he can just host anchor an leave SHV. Problem is once he leaves Cambodia he cant bring his boat back in, as the government in all their wisdom does not allow foreign boats into the countries waters

So you've nit noticed the fact they've knocked down the night market area? That they've knocked down snookies? That theyre building big casinos everywhere? When was the last time you drove from sokha to independence? The square is going to be gone soon as well...Luigi wrote:This is definetly not a contradiction of your assesment but if you would please explain exactly how they are ruining it for you. I see your point. I was unaware Snookies also fell victim to....progress. I make the ride from Indy bch. to Sokha 2-3 x week. Rapid changes indeed. If it only benefited the locals I would more inclined to nod my head in approval.
Do you see the difference between PP & SHV to be so significant to forego the coastal life?
And does your homeland area not see many changes in the last 3 years?
Although prolly not a Sino influence.

no not at all, i say every year im going to move to PP but always find myself stuck in Stuckville, but it is getting a bit much, everyone knows im a big defender of SHV, tbh i like the big open spaces and the fact that in 10 minutes i can be out in the countryside more so than the beach, as i dont spend so much time on it anymore, theres still enough to keep me there, just, but at the rate its changing...we will see
naa nothing changes much round here, the odd business might finish, or a new Aldi or Tesco might crop up somewhere
tbh not all too many local boozers closed down around here during the recession when hundreds of pubs were shutting down i only know of 2 or 3 that got turned into apartments but that was all 7 years ago

Non Inn OA visa multi entry for 1 year. If I enter just before the year is up I get another year and just have to get a re entry permit.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2017 6:21 pmRetirement visa or a non O visa for reason of retirement and get a 1 year extension after 80 days?LaudJohn wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2017 6:09 pmAs everyone knows I am in Cambodia for the culture, not the girls, however your friend is right, SHV has changed very quickly and dramatically and IMHO not for the better.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2017 9:52 am just got a skype call form My friend living in SHV (and has been for 7 years) says the place has been brought and taken over by the Chinese.New hotels going up everywhere

Cost is $A225.
I spend a lot of time in Thailand and have a room and moto in Pattaya, but the two land entry restrictions is a bust for me plus I enter Thailand at about10 times a year(and it is getting more frequent) and sooner or later they will give me hassles so time for the retirement visa.
