Vietnam visa process in Phnom Penh or evisa

Post by jayblues »

Is the new Vietnam "evisa" real?
I need a VIetnam visa around December 2017 and preplanning my way of obtaining one.
If I do it in Cambodia, can I get it done through an agent in Phnom Penh and for what cost?
If i go to SIhanoukville or Battambang, I can do in person at the consulates which I know the process and how that all works, but I prefer not to go this route and rather to obtain it either online or in Phnom Penh.
I don't want to book my flight until I have a clear idea of obtaining the visa in Phnom Penh or if anyone has experience with the new evisa that I've read about online.
I'm a US citizen and read that only a 1 year visa is availabe now through consulates or embassies (which is fine), but a shorter 1 month visa is availabe on evisa.

There's a Vietnamese Embassy in Phnom Penh. It has a big sign which says "VISA" by a door. Never been there though.

Multiple visa options. 30 days or whatever u want.
The 1 yr. only visa never took flight but is available.
SHV consulate is very congenial. Show up, pay $ come back next day.

That big sign now lights up at night! Even though the counter isn't open at night... I don't get that.
