You are using the wrong tense.
It should read.
When I was single I used to.....
... now I go where my wife wants.
Mate the fun is ending for you, mark my words!

Time will tell.frank lee bent wrote:Teh unabated construction boom suggest that the optimists here are right.
Hell, they might be right about some of this.
I don't agree with them though. Thousands of dudes have been coming here with the idea that, "man, now is the time!" only to be left penniless and with empty pockets full of excuses.
I'm with Wacky Jacky and others who day it's still a total joke compared to other easier nicer destinations within the vicinity.
I like the place, but so much more has to be done before I'd even consider Sihanoukville to be a decent place to invest in.
I still consider it "off the beaten path" when taking other nearby destinations into account.
Can hotdigger or LJ give us a certain date at which point can officially say "I told you so! ! ! !" when the place is still a rundown beach town with a few random nice places here and there for the Russian expat community? Name a date. I'll be patient.

I have no doubt that SHV will continue to develop successfully over time. My questions are more about whether any barang will be able to cash in any slice of that market. The fact that hotdigr works for Russians, as opposed to starting and running his own business, pretty much emphasizes my point. Could he go it alone there?

I imagine with the right startup cash he could... anyone can really. If the Russians can, why not an Aussie or an American? It's about having the cash to do so though, as well as a good solid business plan.Soi Dog wrote:I have no doubt that SHV will continue to develop successfully over time. I think hotdigr had a few businesses in sihanoukville but decided it wasn't worth it.

Well the people you speak about already have lots of money. I thought this thread was about small businesses scratching out a living (hence the high turnover mentioned in the OP) and trying to cash in on the "transitioning" of SHV, not about the wealthy getting wealthier.OrangeDragon wrote:I imagine with the right startup cash he could... anyone can really.
