Poi pet and khmers heading to thailand

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Poi pet and khmers heading to thailand

Post by phuketrichard »

Amazing poi pet , its a mini boom town, 17 casinos All foreign owned, mostly empty. New roads, hotels, supermarkets, kfc, shop houses....90 % empty
Getting gf her L-A migrant work visa. Must be over 1,000 people/day heading over to work.
Guess why work for $3-5/day when can work for $12...
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

If the Thai and the Malay did not take them in, so that they can send some of those $12 back home, we would be sitting on an impossible disaster. Furthermore, it would increase labour supply in Cambodia and further depress the going $3-5/day to even less than that. I also think that the Koreans, and especially the Japanese could do more, and take in more workers from here. Avoiding social unrest means keeping the masses in a job ...

I recieved better than average grades in economics but remain mostly ignorant from a global perspective.
Those lessons were a l0ong time ago. But I still think some or most of the basic precepts still apply.
My question is how is this scenario sustainable? It goes against every basic concept I was taught.
I think my new slogan will be; Baffled in the KoW.
Same goes for the housing/construction/resort boom here in SHV.
