Two drivers are wanted for questioning by police after a road accident which killed four people and injured four others in Kampong Chhnang province.

The crash happened on National Road 5 in Samaki Meanchey district when a car with eight people inside hit a bus and truck on Saturday night.

Local police chief First Lieutenant Sok Vina said the accident appeared to have been caused by the sedan which overtook the truck, hit the bus and then ricocheted and hit the truck too.

He said the dead and injured all came from the same family and were on their way home to Kandal’s Ponhea Lueu district after attending a concert in Kampong Tralach.
“Those who died were relatives of the driver, a man called Phon Pheary,” he said. “Four people including a woman died immediately while three people are in hospital recovering from surgery and one person suffered minor injuries.”

First Lieut Vina says the drivers of the truck and bus fled and all three vehicles were detained for examination.
