Yup, but the one used in the clip uses a gimbaled camera mount so safe to assume it's not a cheap rig. Also the range is, what, a kilometre or more? At least 500m? What's the ceiling for a show like that one, OD?EdinWigan wrote:StroppyChops wrote:OD, what would the risk to the 'copter be if it copped a direct hit? Would it be enough to send it into river? Surely, you'd be taking the risk that you're $5000 rig wasn't coming back to you.
They do not need to be that expensive my Parrot A R Drone was only a couple of hundred quid ( $300 )
And in fairness he wasn't in the explosive centre
Fantastic video clip Milord, many thanks

What's the dry weight fly time on that, Ed? Does it comes with an RC or is it in the serious end of the hobby? I'd love a quad or hex for Cambodge but the price vs loss risk scares me a little.EdinWigan wrote:I have the baby of the team the Parrot A R 2.0 Drone

Re: Inside Fireworks with a Quadrocopters
ceiling honestly depends on their shells... both type and brand. most pro shots are around 100m-300m, with the specialty shells (which are much bigger and really only used in finales for most shows) going to 300 up to 800m or more in some rare cases.
standard run on the mill 3" shells are usually around 100-150m though.

While it's cool, this is the big flag in my mind about flying "into" the fireworks:

The legal stuff isn't an issue here obviously... but the safety issue would be. Even the guy I'm having do it is to keep it back a reasonable distance while doing it. To protect his gear as well as crowd safety. There is also the remote possibility that a firework colliding with a drone may divert the pyrotechnic downward into spectator areas

As low as 100m? Is that for the fan launchers and the like?

No, that's a typical 3" mortar break height. 3 seconds. About a 10m spread.StroppyChops wrote:As low as 100m? Is that for the fan launchers and the like?
If you angle them they're lower, obviously, so you have to always work out the math for the arc to make sure your burst effect isn't landing on buildings/the ground/people/etc. Though one going off only 10m above the ground would look like shit anyway.

The Parrot A R 2.0 Drone has a flight time of 36 minutes but I fly might with enhanced battery pack, so quite a bit more. Range is limited but, a few tweaks have enabled some to give unlimited range by using the 3G network. I guess then it is down to battery life

Nice. Does that have inbuilt camera, or is that a customisation?EdinWigan wrote:The Parrot A R 2.0 Drone has a flight time of 36 minutes but I fly might with enhanced battery pack, so quite a bit more. No two cameras as standard, one in front so you can fly it out of visual, or at least fly by pilots view, so to speak and a second camera that faces straight down and is HD.
You use your smart phone or tablet to fly it and so have a direct video link/display on your screen

Very nice, especially at that price. Happy with it?
