Six hurt as storm damages homes
16 March 2017
At least six people were injured and 150 properties damaged during a storm in Pursat, Preah Vihear and Rattanakiri provinces.
Preah Vihear province’s deputy police chief Chorm Sam Ol said yesterday that based on preliminary reports, the storm started on Tuesday afternoon and destroyed 83 homes across four communes in the Choam Khsant district.
A police officer from Rattanakiri province’s Veun Sai district, who asked not to be named, said the storm on Tuesday destroyed the roofs of five residential homes and the zinc walls of 30 houses. However, there were no reported fatalities there.
In Pursat province, Veal Veng district deputy police chief Soley Mesa said 49 houses were damaged by the strong winds, along with a building on pagoda grounds as well as the Anlong Ram commune police station. However, no casualties were reported.
Um Rine, the director of the General Department of Water Resources and Meteorology, said that based on a ministry statement, the unseasonal rain mixed with strong winds, lightning and thunder was set to continue for several days due to the increase in temperature.
“Please be careful in this period from March to the end of May when the phenomenon of rain mixed with lightning and strong winds can often occur,” he said.

Pissing down in SHV.
Temperature cool to chilled. Sea breeze.
Could be the right weather for cooking some macaroni cheese.
