Japan opens first real shopping mall in Cambodia
At the inauguration of Aeon Mall Phnom Penh, Prime Minister HE noted it is the first modern mall of international standard to be built in Cambodia.
That's a lot of people... I'm excited to check it out next time I'm up that way, anyone else been? Any reviews/photos? General Mack?At the inauguration, Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida, who is making a two-day visit to Cambodia, said the multi-entertainment venue will give Cambodia a real taste of Japanese culture and services.
The mall has attracted about 50,000 Cambodians every day since it partially opened for business on June 20, and that number has doubled over the last two days, according to the company's staff.
Curious if it's got a larger selection of western items that expats and tourists will really go for like Home Top does, or if it's more targeted at the local population.

heard that the 4d movies are $16/person.
so looks like a typical money laundering scam
Like many malls only the food courts will turn a profit.
Watch the number of shops that close within 6months
Bangkok starts construction soon on SE Asia's largest mall, http://bangkok.coconuts.co/2014/07/01/i ... raya-river

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

It's definately a mall!
Like one you'd find in Bangkok.

The cedar roasted asparagus has good chew. I don't know how to enjoy it, so I'll Instagram it instead.

Believe it or not, I haven't even been yet. Been on holiday this week, and I've been a lazy roly poly.OrangeDragon wrote: Any reviews/photos? General Mack?

Re: Japan opens first real shopping mall in Cambodia
Went wed at 4:30. Packed to the rafters with local lookie loos. Went back Thur at 9am. Not too crowded until lunch time and all the kiddies showed up. Left at 3. A total of 9 hours over 2 days, and still haven't come close to seeing everything.
It's an amazing mall! The Aeon section has a giant selection of goods at all price points. Most prices seemed reasonable. Some items over priced, some really cheap.
The only negative thing I can say (other than the locals not knowing how to act, walk, use escalators, wait in line, etc.) is that on both days, the missus and I got headaches and our eyes, noses, and throats started started to itch and hurt after about an hour. Maybe some toxic substance is still not dry.
If you go, I recommend going early, leaving by 4pm, using the rear entrance (no Vlad, don't even think about it) off street 78 that 99% of people don't seem to know about.
And for those about to bitch and whine about rampant commercialism, how the malls in XXXX country are SO much better, etc. ---- Fuck off! It's a nice, cool, mall that blows away the competition here. We all can't travel to other countries when we need to buy something and don't want to deal with the bullshit at the local markets and other shopping centers.

I am sooooo very sorry if you can't understand or appreciate my sarcastic facetiousness.
