Sihanoukville: reports of up to 40 foreign passports lost or stolen.

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Think i read on one of the facebook pages that it was a number of the smaller companies involved who passed on the passports to a larger company.VLK or something like that and that the box was stolen off the bus in Phnom Penh.

Just posted on fb

For everyone who had their passports stolen. I'm currently at the meeting at OC hotel with the agents and VLK Travel. 42 passports were stolen off the virak bus. They have a video of it. All agents pas their passports off to VLK so the responsibility falls on VLK as they chose how to transport passports. They are saying the will cover the cost of new passports, exit visas, and overstays plus transportation to PP. also they have already filed police reports in PP. The issue right now is who pays what. VLK wants the agents to pay 50% and the agents are arguing bc it really is not their fault. I'll keep you all posted. Keep a receipt of everything you buy/pay for while dealing with this.

i would say it is the agents fault as they are the ones in receipt of the passport so they should take care of it
