Amazon Echo.....troubles
Amazon Echo.....troubles
I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest most here are, at a minimum, somewhat computer competent. so.....I though this was an interesting story, I also think it's not the last we'll hear of it. Surely some semi self important person will get burned by the lack of security on these things (or the better skills of hackers) just sayin'
Amazon Echo is accidentally buying DOLLSHOUSES after picking up instructions from a news reporter on owners’ TV.
The Amazon Echo devices connect to the Alexa voice assistant, which can be used to stream music, control smart home devices, and notably, order products.
But the gadgets were apparently triggered by a report from CW6 News Morning Anchor Jim Patton, who was discussing a Dallas 6-year-old who accidentally ordered a $170 dollhouse and cookies via Alexa.
“I love the little girl, saying ‘Alexa ordered me a dollhouse,’” he said during the Thursday report, according to CW6.
When Patton mentioned Alexa and the dollhouse, viewers all over San Diego complained that their Echo devices then attempted to order dollhouses.

I find it humorous and won't have one of these things listening to me (or the folks in my abode) until the security is way, way improved. (and maybe still not then, who wants to hear me screaming my own name...at one of 'those' times!?!?!)
just sayin'
