So that's not just a smaller bomb? I'm confident you know I wasn't seriously advocating that you build a device to cause anyone harm.OrangeDragon wrote:because that would be a bomb, and likely to draw unwanted attention. a squib on the other hand is about the punch of a firecracker... in fact they're often homemade USING firecrackers.StroppyChops wrote: Don't you have ready access to stuff that goes bang? Why muck around, why not develop a trigger that's attached to the girls wrist with fine line, once smartass is a safe distance from the girl, BANG! Just smoke and noise of course.
NOW you're talking! Although these wouldn't be IEDs, right?OrangeDragon wrote:what i DO have access to is a major stock (1500 or so) of electronic matches. a 1.5v current is enough to pop one and light a small bundle of flash powder between 2 pieces of duct tape. essentially a homemade firecracker set off by a AA battery and a "switch" of opening the bag. tape that to the back of a sandwich baggie like LTO suggested (the refill ink for the thumbprint pads may work nice) and it will spray the contents of said baggy quite nice.

Squibs are a success... Video later when I have a cameraman.
Lighter for scale. Total cost: approx 30 cents.

wrap that in a plastic baggie and tape it for waterproofing, set that inside of a baggie of ink, and you'll get a very nice spray.
Problem at the moment is it's omnidirectional... trying to figure out a good way to focus the force so it only shoots "out" and doesn't just use all of it's energy to coat the purse. as a side note i got to scare the shit out of my neighbor with the first prototype, it was about 10x bigger than that one.

Sort of, it depends on your classification of "bomb"... it's a relatively loose term, and technically intentionally shaking up someones beer could qualify.StroppyChops wrote: NOW you're talking! Although these wouldn't be IEDs, right?
these have just about enough force to take of a finger if held in a closed fist, or burn you pretty nasty if held in an open hand. they don't have inherent destructive power, and have to be compressed further (by the closed fist) to do explosive damage.
generally that falls into the range of firecracker. which technically is a bomb... but seen as a much lower class suitable for recreation.
going to go demo these later at charlie harper's for a few of the expats i've discussed the idea with.

What could possibly go wrong. I always get concerned when I hear Americans talking about vigilantism.
Yes sir, I can boogie, I can boogie, boogie, boogie all night long.

Video with a bag of water, still not very directional. Add in a backing for force it all 1 direction and this will be a perfect spray:
