Traveling the world with no money. Is it cool or is it exploitative ?
"Is it cool, or is it exploitative, to travel without money?" is a question raised from the Guardian article below:
How to travel the world with no money – by people who have done it
Three adventurers share their advice on cash-free journeys around the globe, and reveal the highs and lows of the challenge
https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2017 ... ve-done-it
The three people given as examples here did not actually travel with NO money at all, but with very little money, and they all had a plan, an itinerary and a goal.
This differentiates them from the simple dead-beats who wash up on the shores of South East Asia with no money, doesn't it ? Or does it ?
How ethical is it for people from (rich) developed countries to arrive with no money, and to expect to travel around and survive on the kindness of those who live in real poverty ? ( Even when the voyager's intentions are "good".)

Travelling like a barefoot nomad and scrounging from the poor? *
It is as effing bloody disgraceful as playing at helping the poor stupid natives to do things they are quite capable of doing themselves.
(Hey! Look at my Facebook page! I'm building a toilet for these ignorant savages with a little help from Samantha and Tristan, my Gap Year chums!)
* One conspicuous exception was Heinrich Harrer. Read Peter Fleming's introduction to Harrer's "Seven Years in Tibet"

Comparing it to "traveling the world with money".....
I'll take the 'with money' option please.
Generally, I wouldn't think the 2 compare!
just sayin'

I don't think so there is anything possible without money. How to service in another region without money far from home your mates and family. To leave your strength behind and be happy ???

What if they have an accident or get sick? I think it's very irresponsible.
