Gen mack outed on cambodian daily

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

XXXXXX XXXXXXX, who runs Cambodia Expats Online (CEO), said after seeing the story show up on various Khmer news sites and deciding that Mr. Weng’s identity checked out, the forum posted an article online along with a Facebook post.

“Then on Nov 25 (Friday), 2 days after we published the article about Mr Weng, we get a message from Ratha Chev (Facebook account looks real and says they are the Account Manager at Marketing Solutions Asia Ltd) on our CEO Facebook page telling us, ‘hi i would like to ask for your contact for advertisement ?’” Mr.Xxxxx said in an email.

Upon sending his number, Mr. XXXXXX said he received a telephone call from what sounded like a Cambodian man requesting that he remove the article, arguing that it was a violation of Mr. Weng’s privacy, and offering $100 if he complied.

“I wanted to debate with him further to see how much they were willing to offer,” he said. “But I felt a bit hesitant to appear like I was seriously considering taking money to delete something, which we would NEVER do.”

He's quite open about it, his twitter handle is this and it openly says he is the owner / admin of CEO so its not like he tries to hide that fact.

I'm in the process of suing the Cambodia Daily for violating my privacy.

Only after they refused to delete the article, even after offering them $100.
