Dispute between 'Vietnamese' and Cambodian youths escalates.

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

When the article refers to 'Vietnamese' youths, are they talking about Vietnamese nationals, or Cambodians of Vietnamese ethnic origin ? Is this incident 'news' because there were Vietnamese involved ? Otherwise, lets face it, its just a pissed up fight between guys on Saturday night.

Four Vietnamese youths were arrested on Saturday night after a dispute escalated into a battle with three Cambodians involving sticks and a sword.

Police said the incident happened in Chbar Ampov district’s Champus Kaek village after a Cambodian man beat a Vietnamese teenager with a stick.

The district police report identified the Vietnamese as Ly Koung, Joeun Soky, Chhor Huy and Sok Chanthy, all aged 17.

The four allegedly attacked Mr. Thon, 23, Tol Horn, 34, and Chak Dong, 17, during a drinking session.

The police report said Mr. Thon had a serious injury to his head, Mr. Horn was injured on his left arm and Mr. Dong was injured on his right hip.
Pictures later showed one victim with stitches to his arm.

The victims were sent to the district referral hospital, while the Vietnamese were arrested and were being questioned at the district police office, the police spokesman said.

Where I'm from, that's not considered to be a sword.
It's more like a home-made machete.
Still, it could hurt.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
