Kickboxer arrested for torture,rape, abuse of girlfriend.

Police arrested a kickboxer yesterday for allegedly torturing and raping his 17-year-old girlfriend in Phnom Penh’s Russey Keo district.

Tuol Sangke commune police chief Captain Huy Hean said the victim was held against her will in a rented room for about one week, during which time she was tortured and repeatedly raped by 25-year-old Korn Chantha, a kickboxer in the 67 kilogram weight category from the Defense Ministry’s Boxing Club.

“He was accused by his girlfriend for unlawfully confining her in his rented room for several days. During the detention, he repeatedly beat and tortured her, even forcing her to have sex with him,” Cap. Hean said.

“Before having sex with her, he did some things which she said were extremely painful and that was why she was so scared of him.

“After having sex, he took a pair of scissors and cut her hair, threatening to kill her if she escaped from the room or if she told anyone about it,” he said, adding that the suspect was now in police custody.

Cap. Hean said police learned of the incident after the girl escaped from the rented room and ran directly to the commune police station and asked for protection on Wednesday evening...

Korn Chantha, winner of the 2015 Red Bull Championship, allegedly abused 17-year-old Yen Thera, a worker at a clothing store on Koh Pich, over two days at a rental home the pair share in Tuol Sangke commune, Russey Keo district, Phnom Penh.

Chantha – who works as a soldier and fights for a club linked to Intervention Division 2 – also allegedly used a broomstick to repeatedly beat Thera and threatened to kill her with a cleaver, Hean said.

The ordeal then spilled out onto the street when Thera managed to escape and run to a local market while Chantha was in the bathroom at about 10pm on Wednesday.

Hean said that Chantha chased and caught his victim and continued his attack until his victim’s screams alerted nearby district police officers, who came to her aid and arrested Chantha.
Russey Keo district police chief Tieng Chansa said Chantha would be sent to court today.
