Rich generous country donates office equipment to not-so-well-off country.
Xiong Bo, the new Chinese ambassador to Cambodia, met with Foreign Affairs Minister Prak Sokhonn yesterday and also handed over a donation in the form of office equipment as well as more than $100,000.
The meeting was intended to boost ties between the two nations as both China and Cambodia pledged to continue their cooperation.
“Today we provide this office equipment to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with Cambodia. It is also to mark the agreement between China and Cambodia to cooperate,” Mr. Xiong said during the handover ceremony.
The Chinese ambassador gave the ministry 20 desktop computers, 10 laptops, three digital copiers, 30 laser printers, 10 scanners, 100 telephones, two LCD projectors and five air-conditioning units.
He also handed over an additional 800,000 yuan (about $117,700) to purchase more office equipment for the ministry. Following a closed-door meeting between Mr. Xiong and Mr. Sokhonn, the minister congratulated the ambassador over his appointment and said that both nations would work to strengthen ties...

That was my immediate thought. No ministry should accept equipment from abroad that could in any way compromise their security.
