Changing Tourist Visa to Ordinary Visa

Post by mckirdy89 »

I'm new to the forum and new to Phnom Penh. Just arrived yesterday and will be living here indefinitely while my wife is working out here.

Have a quick query regarding visas: yesterday when I arrived I stupidly asked for a tourist visa rather than the ordinary visa (I'm blaming the 36 hour flight with 2 cats). Wondering if there is any way to change this visa rather than leaving the country within 30 days and applying for an Ordinary Visa upon re-entry?

Thanks in advance for help!

you have to do a border run.
easiest an air asia flight to bangkok.
they are having a mega sale for bigshot members starting 3 AM on the 14th.
sometimes the fares are like $23 or so.
they sell out real fast- in hours

Technically you are supposed to leave the country then re-enter to apply for an E-type visa, however many travel agencies will do it for you for an inflated fee.

If you are in PHN suggest you check at Lucky Lucky if they can convert you from tourist. I came in on Ordinary and then went to Lucky Lucky and got one year, multiple entry extension. $288

E-ype Ordinary visa is the correct visa to get if you want to extend for long term stays!

Fill in the visa on arrival form when you arrive, or, if you're from a country that isn't eligible for a visa on arrival, apply for one at your nearest Cambodian embassy.
