KTV Managers Get 7 Years for Trafficking

Two female managers at a Phnom Penh karaoke parlor (KTV) were yesterday sentenced to seven years in prison by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court after being found guilty of selling the sexual services of four females aged between 15 and 21 in May.

The two were sentenced after being found guilty of selling the four girls for sex for $1,500 to $2,500 a time in hotels and collecting commissions from the girls in May.

Presiding judge Thlang Phaneth said Eng Bopha, 32, the manager of a KTV in Sen Sok district, and Thy Maraneth, 31, a supervisor at the KTV and who was sentenced in absentia as she is on the run, had accepted money from a number of men to have sex with the four women...

However, during the trial on October 18, Ms. Bopha denied she was prostituting or trafficking the four victims, insisting they were all willing participants.

She told the court that four men had come to the KTV a few days before the arrest and asked if she could find four virgins for them to sleep with, for which they would pay between $1,500 and $2,500...

So do these "virgins" insert a fish bladder filled with chicken or pigeon blood at the appropriate moment and
squeal and struggle extravagantly or are they - improbably - the real deal?
