Getting the skins back on my early Suzuki soft top was an absolute nightmare. With the top off, though, you could lay the windscreen down like the Willy's and pretend to be jungle warriors.

wranglers would drop the windscreen as well but it's illegal in the US... you can still make them do it (they have the hinges) but it takes a little modification.

In America I still have a '63 international Scout thats been in my family since new. As Scouts rust so has it. In '63, the top came off, as did the doors and the windshield folds down. Its got a 302 cu. in Ford V-8, mustang 4-speed, F-150 Ford truck power steering. Early Scouts had limited slip front and rear, the jeeps did not, so the Scouts (as it said on the side of the front fender) are all-wheel drive/4 wheel drive while jeeps only had one tire in back and one in front driving. My friends in Alaska used to call this truck "The beast" because when other 4-wheel drives were stuck its the one that pulled them out.

It may be from state to state, but I haven't heard of any law against a drop windshield (maybe in the Peoples Democratic Workers Paradise of California, aka North Mexico) as long as you have eye protection (maybe a helmet).

Is helmet use a state by state requirement in the US? Always curious when I watch the OCC boys riding without.

Same as seatbelts and every other traffic law I can think of, if not all.

In most states eye protection is enough but ONLY if the car came made that way. If you modified it to do it they wouldn't allow it to pass safety inspections meaning you couldn't drive it on the roads.

'63 Scouts didn't have seatbelts so I didn't need to wear them. I downloaded the law and when stopped for no seatbelt pushed it in the Gestapo's face. (I also had the original factory build sheet to show no seatbelts were listed.) Same as I do with the Cambo police when I want a receipt for paying a ticket. (downloaded law/rule on receipts for paying a ticket to cops off the internet and keep a copy in my truck.)
