A mob of angry villagers in Kratie province strong-armed military police on Sunday into returning six trucks that had been seized earlier in the day for transporting illegal wood, according to local officials.

Is anyone actually growing *luxury wood* as an investment for their grandchildren - like growing oak or walnut in temperate climes ...

Stop asking for foresight, that's too much. They need immediate gains.
There is a rosewood plantation in Kompong Speu called Grandis. I believe it's Australian owned and operated though. The locals don't really get long-term stuff like that, as there's never been a forestry industry here the way there is in the US, Canada, Norway etc. Well, there's the cutting down aspect of forestry, but planting non-fruit bearing trees is virtually unheard of.

Plant back? After all those years of logging and stuff? People start bragging about plant back... We can't even eliminate the illegal logging. Have you ever seen Stueng Treng Province from above the sky? Now compare to 90s, it's just sad!
