Monks caught with meth, accused of trafficking.
They are talking about a very small quantity of meth again here; basically just kids smoking meth in their room. There is a very fine line between using and trafficking drugs these days. Question of money, or police statistics ?
Monks Caught for Meth Trafficking
Monks Rin Vin, 16, Heng Dara, 16, and Phorn Pheakdey, 17, were arrested at their pagoda in Dang Tong district’s Dang Tong commune while smoking meth in their room, alongside the two novice monks, Kampot province anti-drug officer Major Sao Sakhorn told Khmer Times.
They were preliminarily accused by our police of drug trafficking and use and are facing punishment of up to one year in jail each,” he said.
During the raid, police seized a small package of meth and related drug paraphernalia, he added. Maj. Sakhorn was unsure if the court had charged the five, and Ek Chheng Huoth, a prosecutor at the provincial court, could not be reached for comment

i know in Cambodia there is a number or reasons why young lads become monks,
but there seems to be a growing number that dont seem to be taking their monkhood seriously

meth is a serious problem among the under-educated.

Never heard of idle thumbs. Is that a new one?
I can imagine in this modern age of using thumbs on a smart phone. We didn't have such things when I was your age, we used our hands.

All sorts of kids end up as monks, including delinquents. It's no big surprise when some continue being delinquents.
