At 5pm, on the afternoon of September 27, Pattaya police arrested Ms Usa Aiemsa-ard, (35) and Ms Malinee Sae-Tang (27) and charged them with theft. A motorbike involved with the crime has been impounded.

Earlier in the day sixty-nine year old Australian tourist reported that she had been robbed on a baht bus of 5,500 baht and a bank card. At the end of her journey she noticed her purse had been taken from her bag.

Officers identified the suspects from CCTV images and traced them to Thepprasit Soi 7 where they were arrested. They have both admitted the crime.

This is a really common MO. They jump on a bus, suss out a likely victim and sit either side of you. One distracts you, the other lifts your valuables. Some people believe the bus drivers are in on the thefts because the crims seem to jump on and off buses without paying.
